Guidelines for using the GeneSys platform for academic purposes at Puerto Galera National High School.

1. Educational Purpose

GeneSys is a digital game-based learning module developed as part of a Practical Research 2 study by Grade 12 STEM students. By using this platform, you acknowledge that it is intended solely for educational assessment and the collection of research data regarding game-based learning effectiveness in General Biology.

2. Student Responsibilities

  • Academic Integrity: Students must answer assessments honestly. Attempting to exploit the system, share room codes with unauthorized users, manipulate localStorage data, or falsify scores is strictly prohibited and may result in disqualification.
  • Account Accuracy: You must provide your correct Name, LRN (Learner Reference Number), and Section when joining a room to ensure your grades are recorded accurately and can be properly exported by your teacher.
  • Browser Requirements: You must use a modern web browser with JavaScript and localStorage enabled. Clearing your browser data during an active quiz will result in loss of progress. We recommend Chrome, Firefox, Edge, or Safari (latest versions).
  • Network Connectivity: While the system includes offline support with automatic retry for failed submissions, you are responsible for maintaining a stable internet connection. Submit your quiz before the time limit expires.
  • Room Codes: Room codes are temporary (valid for 24 hours). Do not distribute these codes outside of your assigned section. Unauthorized access attempts may be logged.

3. Disclaimer & Limitations

This platform is provided `as is` for research and educational purposes. While we implement robust error handling, localStorage persistence, network queue retry mechanisms, and auto-save functionality to ensure data reliability, technical issues may still occur.

The developers and Puerto Galera National High School are not liable for: (1) data loss due to browser issues, localStorage clearing, or cache expiration; (2) technical interruptions from server downtime, network failures, or database maintenance; (3) minor content discrepancies or typos in questions; (4) incomplete submissions resulting from expired room codes or time limits; (5) incompatibility with outdated browsers or devices.

Recommendation: Always submit your quiz before the time limit expires and ensure you have a stable connection during assessment.

4. Modifications

The research team reserves the right to modify the quiz content, game mechanics, scoring algorithms, or technical implementations (such as caching strategies, localStorage mechanisms, or UI/UX improvements) at any time to better fit the research objectives or curriculum requirements.
